DON’T • Attempt to shampoo carpet, rug or upholstered furniture without first consulting your AllStates Services trained professional. • Attempt to clean any electrical appliances (radio, TV, etc.) that may have been close to fire, heat or water without first consulting an authorized repair service. • Consume any beverages or food that may have been stored close to fire, heat or water. (They may be contaminated.) • Turn on ceiling fixtures (fan, light, etc) if ceiling is wet. Wiring may be wet or damages and cause electrical shock, fire and air movement may create secondary damage. • Send garments to the dry cleaner. Improper cleaning may set smoke odor. WATER DAMAGE FROM CLEAN WATER DO: • Turn off electric circuit breakers for wet areas of the building, when access to the power distribution panel is safe from electrical shock. • Remove as much excess water as possible by blotting and mopping. • Wipe excess water from wood furniture after removing tabletop and lamps items. • Remove and prop up wet upholstery cushions for even and faster drying. • Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpet. • Remove to a safe, dry place any paintings, art objects, documents, computers and other valuable materials or sensitive to moisture. • Use wooden clothespins to keep furniture skirting off damp floors. • Hang draperies with coated hangers and avoid any contact with wet carpeting, floors or upholstery. • Hang furs and leather goods to dry separately at room temperature. DON’T • Enter affected areas if electrical switches, outlets, circuit breakers or electrical equipment are exposed to water. Always avoid electrical shock hazards. • Leave newspapers, books, magazine or other colored items on wet carpets, floors or upholstery to cause staining. • Use your home vacuum cleaner to remove water, possibly causing electrical shock or damage to the vacuum cleaner. • Use radio, TVs or other appliances while standing on wet floors or carpets especially not on wet concrete floors. • Turn on ceiling fixtures (fan, light, etc) if ceiling is wet or enter rooms where cleanings are sagging from retained water. EMERGENCY TIPS FOR YOUR HOME • Wash your hands thoroughly emidietly after contact with contaminated items. DON’T • Turn on the HVAC air system if there is any possibility of spreading contaminated air. • Use household fans or ceiling fan to dry the structure and spread contaminants. • Use products for personal cleanliness and hygiene if exposed to the contaminated areas in your home. NOTE: If exposed to harmful waste, OSJA recommends a after exposure medical evaluation. Consult your local physician or health department.
VANDALISM DAMAGE • Vacuum glass particles from upholstery and carpets. • Save containers which reveal the ingredients of spilled inks, cosmetics and paints on carpeting or floors. DON’Ts • Operate damaged appliance or lamps. • Discard furniture wood chips, broken pieces from art objects, porcelain or furniture.
• Stay out of any affected area. • Call emergency service personnel if the situation is life-threatening event. • Treat all bodily fluids as if they are contaminated. DON’T • Touch or handle items that might be contaminated with bodily fluids.
